Strategic Group

The Strategic Group will agree the priorities to be delivered and comprise members at the most senior level in partner organisations.  It is responsible for National Outcomes 1 and 2 within the Single Outcome Agreement:
  • We live in a Scotland that is the most attractive place for doing business in Europe
  • We realise our full economic potential with more and better employment opportunities for our people
Role
  • Deliver and monitor the actions within the two SOA national outcomes remitted to the Strategic Group

  • Address issues around the growth and development of the local economy, as set out in the Moray 2020 Strategy - these issues include:

    • Attract growth sectors of industry in to Moray

    • Help local small businesses grow

    • Retain the skills of RAF Personnel locally when they leave the Services

    • Secure a greater share of defence contract work locally

    • Invest in Elgin as a regional centre for learning and leisure, as well as business

    • Exploit the indigenous opportunities for the renewable energy

    • Regenerate our main town centres

    • Develop Business Parks in the main towns

    • Upgrade the promotion of Moray as an area to work and visit and expanding the tourism "offer"

    • Retain young people in Moray with good jobs, and reduce emigration

    • Increase the professional/managerial career opportunities in Moray's employment structure

    • Raise average wage levels of the non-RAF sector

    • Promote knowledge, research and information - based jobs through UHI and Moray College and to diversify the College's range of courses

    • Secure infrastructural investment (particularly in roads, Buckie Harbour, the rail network and flood prevention schemes) to serve economic development growth

    • Implement Elgin Traffic Management Scheme

    • Deliver Local Transport Strategy

  • Address the cross-cutting issues, shared priorities and actions to support the individual strategies related to the theme

  • Promote good practice within the areas covered by this theme

  • Approach problem solving through thinking and working laterally

Remit
  • Identify the theme groups' focus and priorities, referenced to the Community Planning Partnership strategic priorities, outlining the steps to meeting these priorities and committing the necessary resources.
  • Evaluating performance, holding each other to account and supporting problem solving with the Partnership.
  • Completing a strategic assessment for theme and review annually.
